The City of Palm Springs has agreed to pay $5.91 million to compensate families--primarily Black, Latino, and Native American--who were forcibly displaced from their homes in the 1950s and 1960s.
The non-litigated settlement, reached after a yearlong pro bono collaboration between O'Melveny & Myers LLP and Beverly Hills civil rights attorney Areva Martin, closes one of California's most painful redevelopment chapters.
