Judge sanctions McDonald's counsel over repeated discovery delays
Judge Ethan P. Schulman sanctioned a McDonald's franchise's attorney for repeated discovery delays, scolding both sides for poor communication in a wage-and-hour class action with minimal document production.





A judge lambasted both sets of counsel and sanctioned one in a putative wage-and-hour class action against a McDonald's franchise, which the plaintiff claims has only managed to turn up 56 pages of documents after seven months of discovery.
At a hearing Monday, San Francisco Superior Court Judge Ethan P. Schulman sanctioned the defendant $3,910 for repeated delays in discovery responses, ignoring a court order to submit filings and failing to attend a separate hearing.
