Jury awards $34.1M to 80-year-old pedestrian hit by Amphastar co-founder

Pharmaceuticals co-founder Dr. Mary Zi-Ping Luo ran a red light and struck the man on a sidewalk. The verdict was a record for a plaintiff over 75, according to attorney Brian Panish.

A San Bernardino County jury awarded $34.1 million to an 80-year-old man who suffered catastrophic brain injuries after being struck on a sidewalk by a vehicle driven by Amphastar Pharmaceuticals co-founder Dr. Mary Zi-Ping Luo, who ran a red light and lost control of her car.

The lead plaintiff's attorney, Brian Panish of Panish | Shea | Ravipudi LLP said that his firm believes this verdict is a record-breaking verdict.
