Exxon Mobil Corp. has filed a federal lawsuit seeking to halt two of California's landmark climate-disclosure statutes, arguing the measures unlawfully compel speech and are preempted by federal securities law.

In the complaint filed Friday, Exxon targeted SB 253, which requires companies with over $1 billion in revenue that do business in California to publicly report global greenhouse-gas emissions, and SB 261, which mandates that companies with over $500 million in revenue ...
