Edison expands eligibility, finalizes Eaton Fire settlement protocols

Southern California Edison finalized its Eaton Fire settlement plan, doubling eligible properties to 18,000, expanding coverage beyond the fire perimeter, increasing compensation, and revising procedures to streamline out-of-court claims.

Southern California Edison has doubled to 18,000 the number of properties eligible for its out-of-court settlement program for victims of January's Eaton Fire, following more than a month of feedback sessions and release of its final program details.

Edison said on its website that the eligibility area was expanded beyond the Cal-Fire-designated fire perimeter to include properties affected by smoke, soot, or ash, nearly doubling the number of qualified properties with nonburn...
