Edison International argues it can't be liable for the Eaton Fire, asserting only its Southern California Edison subsidiary operated the equipment. The company cites prior wildfire cases where courts dismissed similar claims.

Edison International claims it can't be held liable for January's Eaton Fire because it had no direct role in operating or maintaining the electrical equipment of its Southern California subsidiary that is accused of sparking the blaze.
