Deadline extended for Orange County in $31.7M Airport Fire litigation
Cal Fire's cost-recovery suit over the 2024 Airport Fire alleges Orange County workers violated fire-safety rules and operated equipment during extreme weather conditions, triggering statutory presumptions of negligence. The county now has until Jan. 12 to respond.
The California Department of Justice has agreed to a 39-day extension for Orange County to respond to a $31.7 million fire cost-recovery lawsuit filed by Cal Fire over the 2024 Airport Fire. The county's answer is now due Jan. 12 instead of Dec. 4.
