Plaintiffs allege worsening violations in ICE and CBP child detention

Plaintiffs in the Flores case say ICE and CBP continue violating settlement mandates, subjecting children to prolonged, unsafe detention despite court orders and agency reports claiming compliance and improved conditions.

Plaintiffs in a decades-spanning federal case over the detention of immigrant minors alleged in new court filings Monday that both Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Customs and Border Protection continue to subject children to prolonged detention and unsafe conditions, accusing federal agencies of "widespread" and "worsening" violations of a landmark settlement despite repeated court orders.
