Former San Bernardino commissioner rebuked for unlawful orders, bias, and cutting up licenses

State judicial discipline officials say former commissioner Robert Driessen repeatedly overstepped his authority -- at times claiming to outrank God, issuing illegal orders, and cutting up driver's licenses -- in a series of cases from 2022 to 2024.

The Commission on Judicial Performance on Thursday publicly admonished former San Bernardino County Superior Court commissioner Robert Driessen, citing a pattern of judicial misconduct that included claiming to be "a higher authority than God," issuing unlawful orders, misusing fee waiver rules, and even cutting up driver's licenses in traffic court.
