Judge allows Packlane to expand malpractice claims in $6 million dispute
A San Francisco judge allowed Packlane to amend its malpractice lawsuit, rejecting claims of delay and prejudice, and permitting new legal theories ahead of a summer trial over a $30 million sale.
A San Francisco judge allowed packaging company Packlane Inc. on Friday to expand its legal malpractice lawsuit, which claims out-of-state attorneys caused a loss of $6 million in a company sale.
Superior Court Judge Joseph M. Quinn granted Packlane's motion for leave to file a first amended complaint against Minnesota-based Best & Flanagan LLP and partner Daniel L. Grimsrud, concluding the plaintiff met California's standard for amending pleadings.
