A San Francisco judge granted a preliminary injunction blocking OpenAI, CEO Sam Altman and designer Jony Ive from using the "io" name for artificial intelligence hardware.

Startup hardware company iyO Inc. claims the defendants infringed their trademark on a voice-controlled "audio computer" headset, as well as their name, years after a meeting in 2022 when they allegedly discussed the technology with the defendants.
