In April 2024, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency finalized the first national drinking water standards for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), setting enforceable limits of 4 parts per trillion for PFOA and PFOS, separate limits for PFHxS, PFNA and GenX, and a hazard-index approach for certain mixtures. EPA later announced that it would keep the PFOA and PFOS limits, seek additional time for public water systems to comply, and reconsider the standards for PFHxS...
