CoStar, CREXi trade evidence-destruction claims in copyright fight

Judge Consuelo B. Marshall took dueling spoliation motions under submission over missing server logs that could have shown how frequently the commercial real estate rivals accessed each other's websites.

A Los Angeles federal judge on Wednesday took dueling spoliation motions under submission in the long-running copyright battle between CoStar Group Inc. and rival Commercial Real Estate Exchange Inc., after CREXi argued it was "impossible to imagine" CoStar did not recognize the importance of website-access records it later allowed to disappear.
