Former Orange County judge gets probation in workers' comp fraud case
Israel Claustro, who resigned from the bench and is permanently barred from judicial office, received one year of probation and a $5,000 fine after pleading guilty to felony mail fraud.
A federal judge sentenced former Orange County Superior Court Judge Israel Claustro to one year of probation and a $5,000 fine after he pleaded guilty to felony mail fraud.
Paul Meyer, Claustro's attorney, called the decision a "just result" in a Thursday statement.
"We appreciate the careful evaluation by the government and the fair sentence by the Court," Meyer wrote.
