California courts needed a statewide case management system
California's failed statewide court case management project was costly and troubled, but its goal of connecting courts across the state addressed serious public safety concerns.

Unmentioned in John Roemer's article ("The Doghouse Report" Aug. 28, 2026) against the admittedly troubled and overly costly Judicial Council effort to create a statewide Court Case Management System (CCMS) in the early 2000s were the public safety consequences of the disjointed non-system it sought to replace.
