Judge clears State Bar access to DTLA records in $4B abuse settlement probe
Judge Lawrence P. Riff authorized Los Angeles County to turn over confidential client records sought in the State Bar's investigation of Downtown L.A. Law Group.
State Bar investigators can obtain confidential records from Downtown L.A. Law Group as part of a misconduct investigation tied to Los Angeles County's $4 billion juvenile sex abuse settlement, a judge ruled.
Superior Court Judge Lawrence P. Riff on Monday authorized the county to provide the State Bar with plaintiff fact sheets and roughly 1,000 certificates of merit, rejecting the firm's effort to keep the records confidential.
