Less than a year after joining the 9th Circuit, Trump appointee Eric C. Tung has repeatedly challenged his colleagues in sharply worded dissents on immigration and other contentious issues.

In less than a year on the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, Judge Eric C. Tung has established a reputation for pointed dissents, at times directing unusually sharp criticism at his colleagues.

Tung, an appointee of President Donald Trump and former Jones Day partner, has frequently aligned with the court's conservative judges, including Judge Lawrence VanDyke, and has shown little reluctance to challenge the court's majority.
