Ocampo elected presiding judge of LA Superior Court
Judge Ricardo R. Ocampo will succeed Presiding Judge Sergio C. Tapia II, while Judge Yvette Verastegui will become assistant presiding judge. Both will begin two-year terms Jan. 1.
LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles County Superior Court judges have elected Judge Ricardo R. Ocampo as presiding judge and Judge Yvette Verastegui as assistant presiding judge for the 2027-28 term.
Both ran uncontested and will begin their two-year terms Jan. 1. Ocampo, assistant presiding judge since 2025, will succeed Presiding Judge Sergio C. Tapia II. Verastegui, supervising judge of the Criminal Division, will succeed Ocampo.
