Remembering Flight 498, 40 years later

Labor Day weekend this year marked the 40th anniversary of Aeromexico Flight 498. Eighty-two people were killed when the DC-9 aircraft collided with a private aircraft in the skies above Cerritos, California, on Aug. 31, 1986. The crash spawned years of litigation and led to important safety upgrades for all domestic aircraft in the United States.
