Jury awards $10.3M to Waymo worker fired after street takeover

A Los Angeles federal jury awarded $10.26 million, including $10 million in punitive damages, to a former Waymo roadside assistant who said he was fired after reporting that company-mandated GPS directions led him into a downtown street takeover.

A federal jury in Los Angeles awarded $10.26 million to a former Waymo roadside assistant who said he was fired after using his cell phone to report that the company-mandated GPS directions led him into a downtown street takeover.

The Sept. 11 verdict found Transdev Alternative Services Inc. retaliated against Daniel Stein in violation of four California Labor Code whistleblower provisions, awarding him $260,080 in compensatory damages and $10 million in punitive damages.
