LA County opens probe into FAIR Plan wildfire claims handling

Los Angeles County opened an investigation into FAIR Plan's handling of Eaton and Palisades fire claims, adding to state enforcement proceedings and coordinated litigation over alleged smoke-damage claim practices.

Los Angeles County Counsel has opened an investigation into the California FAIR Plan's handling of Eaton and Palisades fire claims, including allegations that it failed to properly investigate and pay for smoke testing and remediation.

FAIR Plan has denied wrongdoing.

The investigation focuses on potential violations of California's Unfair Competition Law and follows complaints from policyholders of delays, underpayments and wildfire claim denials.
