California Deals

Breaking down the deal numbers in California by industry.

Among publicly disclosed deals involving California-based target companies in 2014, the most money changed hands in the health care sector, $114.7 billion in all, followed by discretionary consumer products and services at $84.5 billion.* In both, the biggest deal accounted for more than 60 percent of the total disclosed activity. In information tech, where the total reached $66.8 billion, the largest deal (Facebook's purchase of WhatsApp) accounted for just 29 percent of total disclosed activity.
