Firm Mergers Back on Track

In an international merger of equals this spring, Hogan & Hartson joined forces with England's Lovells to create Hogan Lovells, a 2,500-lawyer firm with more than 40 offices around the globe. In its quarterly MergerWatch Report, legal consultants Hildebrandt Baker Robbins noted that the Hogan deal was the largest of just ten that took place in the second quarter. Mergers were way down in early 2010 and much of 2009 due to an emphasis on "internal matters," according to the report.
