E-Discovery Comes Back In-House

Not only is e-discovery getting more painful to manage these days - it is also becoming excruciatingly expensive. Two out of five corporations responding to a survey by Clearwell Systems say they expect to increase e-discovery spending by 20 percent or more this year.

To counter rising costs, many companies that for years have outsourced e-discovery are planning to assign some of that work to staff. Nearly half of respondents say they are already bringing some e-discovery activity back in-house, and more than a third expect to have a plan in place to do so within twelve months.
