Resources for Finding Pro Bono Work
CaliforniaProBono.net is a searchable database of legal-service providers offering pro bono projects, plus a compilation of news, events, and links from legal-service providers around the state.
The 2009 Pro Bono Resource Guide is published by the San Francisco Bar Association's Barrister's Committee.
The Pro Bono Resources page on the State Bar's website includes links to CaliforniaProBono.net, as well as frequently asked questions and opportunities for new members.
ProBonoMatch.org is a clearinghouse for pro bono opportunities in Santa Clara County, provided by the Santa Clara County Bar Association.
The Los Angeles County Bar Association's Volunteer Opportunities lists pro bono projects available through the bar association and other providers in the area.
Public Counsel serves as the public-interest law office of the Los Angeles County and Beverly Hills bar associations and as the Southern California affiliate of the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. It has a staff of 39 attorneys and five social workers, plus thousands of volunteers. Public Counsel annually provides assistance to more than 27,000 low-income children and adults, as well as to eligible community organizations.
The Volunteer Legal Services Program of the Bar Association of San Francisco is a nonprofit provider of free legal and social services for low-income individuals and families in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The Inner City Law Center is a nonprofit public-interest law firm. It provides legal representation and social-service advocacy annually to more than 2,000 homeless and working-poor clients throughout Los Angeles County.
