Corporate Counsel group to honor diversity and pro bono work

Attorney and human rights advocate Amal Clooney will headline Monday evening’s 25th annual awards gala of the Association of Corporate Counsel Southern California Chapter.

The organization will honor Preston Hopson, senior vice president, general counsel and

secretary at Tetra Tech Inc., with its 2022 Diversity Counsel of the Year award. Southern California Edison Law Department will receive the 2022 Pro Bono Counsel of the Year award.

“These award recipients are shining examples in our legal community, and it is great to see them recognized for all they have done,” Victoria K. Harvey, president of the Southern California chapter of ACC, said in a statement.

Ogletree Deakins will sponsor the awards.

The gala will raise money for Public Counsel. ACC Southern California organizes opportunities throughout the year for members to serve the community in conjunction with Public Counsel, such as clinics devoted to citizenship, nonprofit entities, small businesses, and guardianships clinics, as well as mentorship programs.

“Preston Hopson and the Southern California Edison Law Department have gone above and beyond to serve the community and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal profession. This gala raises money for Public Counsel so that more great companies and people like these can join forces to give back,” Lynette M. Jones, ACC Southern California chapter gala chair, said.

The event begins at 5 p.m. at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel and Suites in downtown Los Angeles.
