“We pulled together 30 thought-leaders from Blank Rome, clients and friends of mine and the firm, to talk about their career development and career options in their respective industries,” partner Stacy D. Phillips said.

The Los Angeles office of Blank Rome LLP sponsored a career day on Saturday to help young women learn networking and other skills.

"I created the Adopt-A-Center program 25 years ago because I wanted my firm to give back to the community in a hands-on way. It was important to me to give time and not just money," Stacy D. Phillips, a partner and matrimonial and family law specialist, said. "I wanted our program to have a lasting impact on the children and families we adopted."

The Adopt-A-Center Program supports local nonprofit organizations that provide outreach to underserved children and families in Los Angeles. This year the program supported MOSTe, Motivating Our Students Through Experience, a group that works to empower young women through mentorship, college counseling and inspiring programming.

"We pulled together 30 thought-leaders from Blank Rome, clients and friends of mine and the firm, to talk about their career development and career options in their respective industries," Phillips said.

Among them were Dawn Haghighi, general counsel and privacy officer at PCV Murcor Real Estate Service; Krystal Studavent Ramsey, director of diversity and inclusion at Blank Rome; and NASA system engineer Anachristina Morino from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

"The conversations with the young women were inspiring. In the end, when we surveyed the young girls, many of them shared that our program opened their eyes to new educational directions and new career possibilities," Phillips said.
