• AB 44, Ramos. California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System: tribal police. Allows law enforcement agencies and courts of federally recognized Indian Tribes, as defined, to apply for access to the California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (CLETS). An act to add Section 15168 to the Government Code, relating to tribal police.

• AB 226, Ramos. University of California: California Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act of 2001. Requires additional audits in 2024 and 2026 by the California State Auditor (CSA) regarding University of California's (UC) compliance with federal and state laws (Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act [NAGPRA]) relating to Native American remains and cultural items. Further, this measure strongly urges, annually by June 30, 3024, and annually thereafter, on each UC campus' progress towards completing repatriation of Native American remains and cultural items. Additionally, this measure strongly urges the UC Office of the President to provide funding to support each UC Campus' efforts towards repatriation. Lastly, this bill strongly urges UC to prohibit use of any Native American human remains or cultural items for the purpose of teaching or research at UC. An act to add Article 2.9 (commencing with Section 92618) to Chapter 6 of Part 57 of Division 9 of Title 3 of the Education Code, and to amend Section 8028 of the Health and Safety Code, relating to the University of California.

• AB 389, Ramos. Native American repatriation: California Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act of 2001: California State University. Requires the California State University (CSU) to comply with various requirements related to the handling, maintenance, and repatriation of Native American human remains and cultural items under the California Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act of 2001 (CalNAGPRA). An act to add Article 3.5 (commencing with Section 8028.7) to Chapter 5 of Part 2 of Division 7 of the Health and Safety Code, and to amend Section 5097.94 of the Public Resources Code, relating to Native American repatriation.

• AB 498, Aguiar-Curry. Tribal gaming: compact ratification. This bill ratifies the tribal-state gaming compact between the State of California and the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria (Tribe) An act to add Section 12012.104 to the Government Code, relating to tribal gaming, and declaring the urgency thereof, to take effect immediately.

• AB 630, Ramos. Department of Transportation: contracts: tribes. This bill removes requirements in existing law that limit the authority Department of Transportation to contract with federally recognized Indian tribes and entities they own. An act to amend Section 94 of the Streets and Highways Code, relating to transportation.

• AB 854, Ramos. Tribal gaming: compact ratification. This bill ratifies the tribal-state gaming compact between the State of California and the Redding Rancheria, California that on March 30, 2023. An act to add Section 12012.106 to the Government Code, relating to tribal gaming, and declaring the urgency thereof, to take effect immediately.

• AB 1139, Garcia. Recognition of tribal court money judgments: tribal sales taxes. Requires the superior courts of California to recognize and enter tribal court money judgments for tribal use and sales taxes on meals, food, and beverages sold for consumption on Indian land, and related interest or penalties. An act to amend Section 1731 of the Code of Civil Procedure, relating to civil actions.

• AB 1233, Waldron. Substance abuse: Naloxone Distribution Project: tribal governments. This bill requires the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), until March 31, 2027, to conduct outreach and provide technical assistance to tribal governments, as specified, regarding the Naloxone Distribution Project; and requires DHCS to report specified information to the Legislature. An act to add and repeal Part 6.25 (commencing with Section 1179.805) of Division 1 of the Health and Safety Code, relating to substance abuse.

• AB 1459, Ramos. State Capitol: mural honoring Native Americans. Requires that any construction, restoration, rehabilitation, renovation or reconstruction of the State Capitol Building Annex incorporate a mural honoring Native Americans in California in one of the main hearing rooms. An act to amend Section 9105.5 of the Government Code, relating to the State Capitol.

• AB 1658, Santiago. Tribal gaming: compact amendment ratification. This bill ratifies 22 separate amendments to extend the terms, until December 31, 2024, of the 1999 tribal-state gaming compacts between the State of California and specified tribes. An act to add Section 12012.111 to the Government Code, relating to tribal gaming, and declaring the urgency thereof, to take effect immediately.

• SB 736, McGuire. Tribal gaming: compact ratification. This bill ratifies the tribal-State Gaming Compact between the State of California (State) and the Middletown Rancheria of Pomo Indians (hereafter "Tribe), executed on March 30, 2023. Additionally, this bill ratifies the second amendment to the tribal-state gaming compact between the State and the Tribe, executed on May 15, 2023. An act to add Sections 12012.109 and 12012.110 to the Government Code, relating to tribal gaming, and declaring the urgency thereof, to take effect immediately.

• SB 771, Dodd. Tribal gaming: compact ratification. The bill ratifies the tribal state gaming compacts between the State of California and between the State of California and the Cahto Tribe of the Laytonville Rancheria, the Ewiiaapaayp Band of Kumeyaay Indians, California, the Manchester Band of Pomo Indians of the Manchester Rancheria, California, the Resighini Rancheria, and the Sherwood Valley Rancheria of Pomo Indians of California, as specified. An act to add Section 12012.112 to the Government Code, relating to tribal gaming, and declaring the urgency thereof, to take effect immediately.
