LA County Bar announces 3 honorees for annual dinner

Retired California Supreme Court Justice Carlos R. Moreno, 2nd District Court of Appeal Justice Brian S. Currey and Foley & Mansfield partner Ann I. Park will be honored by the Los Angeles County Bar Association at its annual dinner in June.

Moreno, who retired in 2011, will receive the Shattuck-Price Outstanding Lawyer Award for his 25 years on the state and federal courts, including 10 years on the California Supreme Court. He left a legacy of landmark opinions that upheld many rights — including parental and custody matters — for same-sex couples, according to the California Bar Journal.

Currey, who is presiding justice of Division 4 of the 2nd District Court of Appeal, will receive the Outstanding Jurist Award for his “judicial acumen and steadfast dedication to justice” during his tenure as a judge of the Los Angeles County Superior Court and a justice of the Court of Appeal. The county bar also cited Currey’s commitment to legal education and advocacy that is showcased through his current role as chair of the California Civility Task Force.

Park, who was the county bar association’s president from 2022-2023, will receive the Philip H. Lam Diversity Impact Award for her “steadfast dedication, transformative leadership, and exceptional mentorship,” in promoting diversity and inclusion in the legal field throughout her career, the county bar said.

A dinner to bestow the honors and install the county bar’s new leaders will be held on June 27 at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles.
