Compton Courthouse to reopen Friday, court officials say

The aging courthouse has been closed to the public for most of January because of burst water pipes.

The Compton Courthouse is expected to reopen Friday after another burst pipe caused flooding and damage, closing it earlier this week.

"All matters scheduled at the Compton Courthouse on or after Feb. 2 will be heard in the Compton Courthouse," officials said in a statement Thursday. "Litigants and court users should consult signage and courthouse staff for services and temporary locations of specific departments within the courthouse."

A water pipe burst over the weekend, flooding the public elevators, stairwells and jury room, again closing the courthouse on Monday. During New Year's, a pipe burst, causing a shutdown until last week.
