Filipino bar foundation receives $75k scholarship commitment
A personal $75,000 donation from Judicate West executive Var Fox Yerganian will fund scholarships and pipeline programs aimed at helping Filipino American law students overcome financial barriers and build professional networks.
Var Fox Yerganian, executive vice president and co-founder of Judicate West, has committed a personal $75,000 scholarship donation to the Filipino Bar Association of Northern California Foundation, supporting educational and mentorship initiatives for Filipino American law students.
The multi-year commitment will help fund scholarships and pipeline programming aimed at expanding opportunities for students pursuing legal careers and navigating the financial barriers associated with legal education.
"We're very lucky that Var has committed to donate to our Foundation, which funds scholarships for Filipino American law students in our community," said Antonio Raimundo of the Filipino Bar Association of Northern California.
The Filipino Bar Association of Northern California will present its first scholarships during FBANC's 46th Annual Gala on June 26 at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco. The event will feature keynote speaker Santa Clara Superior Court Judge Audra Ibarra.
In addition to awarding scholarships, the organization will present the William R. Tamayo Community Grant to a local nonprofit organization.
Fox said the donation was made personally in memory of his parents and in honor of his family.
"Organizations like the Filipino Bar Association of Northern California play an important role in expanding opportunity, mentorship, and scholarship support within the legal profession," Fox said. "I'm honored to make these personal donations in memory of my parents and in honor of my family to help support future generations of legal leaders."
Fox said he believes organizations such as FBANC are essential in helping young attorneys build professional networks and gain mentorship opportunities early in their careers.
"I'm deeply grateful for the opportunity to help uplift deserving individuals through organizations that strengthen both the legal profession and the broader community by investing in talented students and creating pathways for future leaders to rise, thrive, and make a lasting impact," he said.
Organization leaders said scholarship recipients often remain involved after graduation, returning as mentors, volunteers and advocates for future generations entering the legal profession.
