MARIPOSA -- Judge Anita S. Bryant still listens to the bell of the elementary school she used to attend.
That is because those daily chimes are not too far away -- just a couple of blocks from the historic Mariposa Courthouse, in the western foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains or, as it is known by many visitors, a 45-minute pilgrimage by car to Yosemite National Park.
