CHATSWORTH - Superior Court Commissioner Kendra Thomas knows she tends to take things literally. As a longtime minor's counsel, she was used to answering questions plainly. So, when Judge Michael R. Amarian asked her in chambers after a hearing, "What are you doing after this?" she answered matter-of-factly.

"Well, I'm a bit peckish. I might stop and get something to eat, and then I'll go home and review some cases," she told him.
