SANTA ANA - In two of his most recent trials, Orange County Superior Court Judge Robert J. Moss did something unusual: He slashed the size of the jury from 12 people to six.
Under the rules he devised for the two auto-accident injury cases, four jurors' votes out of six were needed for a verdict, or three out of five if one juror had to quit the case. There were no alternates.
