EL CENTRO - Evidence that Christopher J. Plourd counted on to convince a jury his client was not the man who lured a 15-year-old San Diego schoolgirl to her death hinged on a lone strand of hair - not much to go on in the early days of a revolutionary forensic tool known as DNA analysis.
