SANTA ANA - When Orange County Superior Court Judge John D. Conley took over a felony trial court in early 2006, his assignment had, in a way, been over 50 years in the making. In seventh grade, Conley was wandering around his hometown of Hartford, Conn. with "nothing to do," as he put it. He walked into a courthouse, where he sat in on a child molestation trial.
