RIVERSIDE - Long before Catherine E. Bauer became a bankruptcy judge, she got to know the system from the inside.
"I grew up in a family with a lot of financial problems," Bauer said. "Pretty much everybody in my family filed bankruptcy."
One close relative had large medical bills. Her father and other relatives were hopeful, but not always successful, entrepreneurs.
