SANTA ROSA - When he was a lawyer, Peter K. Ottenweller took a unique approach to representing criminal defendants. He talked to the victims and urged his client to do the same in an effort to repair the damage.
Now, as a judge on the Sonoma County Superior Court, Ottenweller has tried to incorporate alternative sentencing into his misdemeanor calendar as a creative way to dispose of nonviolent cases.
