SAN JOSE - Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Mary J. Greenwood learned the importance of fighting for the underdog at a young age.

Her father, a firefighter and truck driver in San Francisco, often visited the Superior Court to watch battles unfold over labor rights. At night, he told her what he'd seen.
