VISTA - Growing up the son of an eminent lawyer, Sim von Kalinowski knew what he didn't want to be when he grew up.

"I didn't want to be a lawyer," said von Kalinowski, presiding family law judge for San Diego's North County. "I saw how hard my dad worked. He put in some long hours."
