INDIO - Otis Sterling's path to the Riverside County Superior Court bench wasn't easy.
He had a troubled home life growing up in Riverside, he said, with a childhood marred by crime and chaos. He was still in high school when police raided his father's house for drugs - an event he said left him homeless at 17 while his father served a prison sentence.
