Last September, Judge Ronald V. Skyers suffered a stroke while he was on the bench.
"All of a sudden, words weren't coming out right," he said.
A court reporter was the first to notice something was amiss and suggested Skyers leave. The judge drove himself home, where his wife was waiting. An ambulance took him to the hospital.
