SANTA CRUZ - When Rebecca Connolly decided to run for a judicial seat, she knew it would be difficult. She was the only woman running, her law practice was not in Santa Cruz and she wasn't as well known as her opponent in the criminal bar.

But, Connolly, who stands a bit over six feet tall, is not one to back down from a challenge.
