LOS ANGELES - When he began his career as a deputy attorney general 35 years ago, Sandy R. Kriegler started compiling a card catalog summarizing every criminal appellate ruling published in California.
Kriegler found it invaluable to have up-to-date case information at his fingertips as he defended criminal convictions on appeal and later when he presided over criminal trials in Van Nuys.
