Long before Kenneth J. Gnoss became a judge in Sonoma County, he was a police officer in Inglewood, just outside of Los Angeles.

He was the point man on the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) force, and in that role, was first through the doors in various life-threatening situations. Gnoss said he assumed the post because he was small and athletic, making him well suited for the job.
