Top 100 Lawyers/Distinguished Counsel 2027

Submission dates: Oct. 14, 2026 — Jun. 23, 2027

This supplement honors the pinnacle of legal excellence in California, recognizing the most exceptional attorneys who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and impact through their work. To be eligible for this esteemed recognition, candidates must have served as lead counsel in high stakes matters. While their work may be national or global, they must be licensed to practice law and reside in California. In print on Sept. 22, 2027.

We will also be continuing the Distinguished Counsel category, which will honor long-serving leaders in the California legal community. To qualify, attorneys must have appeared on the Top 100 Lawyers list for at least 15 years and remain actively engaged in shaping the legal profession and significant legal matters.

Please send the lawyer's hi-res headshot (1 MB) with the nominee's last name and bar number in the e-mail subject line to nominations@dailyjournal.com.

All information submitted must be accurate and verifiable. Nominations should describe only the nominee's own role in each matter, such as lead counsel, co-counsel, or a supporting role, and should not overstate their involvement or take credit for work performed by others.
Only matters handled while the nominee was at their current firm are eligible. Work completed at a prior firm, agency, or organization may not be submitted. The Daily Journal may verify submitted information with courts, opposing counsel, co-counsel, or public records. Nominations containing inaccurate or exaggerated information may be disqualified, and honors already announced may be withdrawn.
