Nominated to serve as Presiding Justice, Div. 5, by Gov. Gavin Newsom, July 2021. Nominated to 1st District Court of Appeal, Div. 3, by Gov. Gavin Newsom; confirmed January 21, 2020. Newsom's first nomination to a court of appeal and first African-American woman to serve that district. Appointed to San Francisco Superior Court in 2002 by Gov. Gray Davis. Previously was of counsel at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, served as a San Francisco County prosecutor from 1984 to 1997 and a San Mateo County deputy district attorney from 1981 to 1984.
