Ex-Marine denied bail for break-in at North Korean embassy in Spain

In a unique question of law, Spain’s extradition request and criminal charges are based primarily on evidence provided by North Korea, a country with which the United States has no formal diplomatic relations and considers openly hostile to its interests.

LOS ANGELES -- A former Marine who helped arranged the defection of a nephew of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un was denied bail and is facing extradition to Spain for his role in an incident that occurred at the North Korean Embassy in Madrid, a move that could lead to his death.
