Judge ‘shuts the door’ on UK data privacy cases in US

The order from U.S. District Judge Phyllis J. Hamilton, issued in Oakland on Monday, will likely prevent the filing of a wave of identical lawsuits alleging GDPR violations in U.S. courts.

In the first decision about the United Kingdom's General Data Protection Regulation by a U.S. court, a federal judge dismissed a proposed class action seeking to solely represent foreign residents who claim that advertising software company PubMatic violated the data privacy law.
